Class Types

  • Workout Of the Day, WODs are constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All WOD workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.

  • Hyrox is a race format that includes 8 exercise stations each preceded by a 1 kilometer run. It aims to make hybrid training (a style of training that mixes running and other conditioning methods with functional strength training) more popular, more competitive and more easily accessible.

  • This Strange Strength & Conditioning class is designed for athletes of all levels to develop the strength and agility to master key movements including pull-ups, muscle-ups, handstand push-ups and handstand walking.

  • This class focuses on the two Olympic lifts - the snatch and the clean & jerk - and the accessory movements necessary to improve your strength and efficiency in these movements. Oly training at Strange Strength & Conditioning will improve your speed, power and agility, and help you develop as a more well-rounded athlete.

    Charles Chung

Olympic Weightlifting / WOD / Gymnastics

Charles Chung, born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, was drawn to sports and physical activity from a young age. While he tried team sports, he found his true passion in bouldering. It taught him that technique and strength can be developed, and not everyone is born a natural athlete. In 2012, after relocating to Los Angeles, he embraced the sport of Functional Fitness. Functional Fitness led him to explore movement mechanics, coaching, and the disconnect between people and movement. He has dedicated himself to understanding individual movement patterns and firmly believes that anyone, with guidance and dedication, can become a stronger, faster, and fitter version of themselves. His fascination for human mechanics and thirst for knowledge has made him an invaluable resource for our team. With his guidance, many of our members and athletes have qualified for National sanctioned USA Weightlifting events.

When I first joined 3 years ago I didn’t know what to expect, lots of skills and movements were new and even scary to try, but the coaching and atmosphere is so encouraging, there is literally something for everyone regardless of persons level or goal.”
